Meeting 13th April 'Celtic Connections' with Sue

Hi our meeting tomorrow will be all about connecting with our Celtic theme.

I will be demonstrating mixed media techniques and how these can be used to make unique bases for vessels, book covers etc.

I will be supplying the materials, so you do not need to bring any stuff.

You may however wish to bring an apron & gloves.

I have plenty of table covers and I will set up stations for you to experiment on.

If you don't fancy playing with mucky stuff- I will be bringing my lightbox and Celtic design books and you will have the opportunity to trace designs off onto cream cotton fabric which I will supply. In that case you may wish to bring a selection of threads, a 6-8" hoop, beads etc

Margaret is not attending the meeting as still recovering from her recent hip operation, but she has sent me some pre traced fabric for you to use.

We will be holding our additional stitch hour, so please bring anything you are working on and your sewing kit.

The hall will be open from 12.30pm and I would appreciate some help in setting up.

The colour raffle is purple so please bring your donations.

Donna still requires general raffle donations for our bumper June raffle. Stitch related items only.

We will also be holding our sales table, so please bring plenty of cash.

I will also be taking bookings for Nikki Parmenter workshop which will be held on Sat 18th May, you can pay by BACS and I have printed off the details on how to pay.

For those exhibiting their Time & Tide pieces of work, please bring them to the meeting and pass them to me.

Unfortunately Margaret is unable to run this mini workshop due to her operation - which I am pleased to say has gone well.

So you are stuck with me, and Caroline who will assist.

We will be stencilling, stitching and using mixed media eg. Kunin felt, Tyvek and Lutrador, along with distressing agents and paint.

A short list of requirements will be available in the next few days

But members are advised to bring aprons, sewing kits etc.

Sue will provide most of the materials.

'Wax Lyrical' a talk by Joy Kilpatrick 9th March

This talk was brilliant and went down well with the group members.

Joy gave a presentation of her wide range of art work, which is predominately ceramics, but incorporates stitch on watercolour paper and batik.

She has agreed to run a workshop 'Watercolour and Mark Making with free machine stitching and Embellishment' on 27th July instead of Batik.
