14th May meeting-' Embroidered Tags'

In May we will have a go at making embroidered tags in preparation for the them of our stall at Parbold Festival. Mel will lead the session, and will provide the card tags.

I will bring the bits box and members have been given a short requirements list below-.

Requirements for May 14th Meeting

We will be playing with embroidered hanging tags which will then be our feature at our stall at

 Parbold Festival. Think Small!!!

·          Sewing Kit, which includes a variety of needles, sharp scissors etc

·          A variety of hand sewing threads eg. Stranded embroidery thread, Perle textured thread & finer

 sewing thread.

·          Pritt stick glue

·          Very small pieces of fabric in your chosen colourway- this could include fine muslin,

scrim, furniture/curtain fabric, plain or patterned snippets, lace or

antique fabric eg old linen hankie etc

·          Little buttons and embellishments.

I will also bring a selection of materials etc for your use.

The colour raffle is Yellow- please bring your donations of thread, fabric or embellishments etc in that colour range.

We will also be holding our general raffle of all sorts of stitchy items eg books, threads, fabrics, buttons, beads, ribbons etc etc -

we normally hold this in June but have changed the date for this year only to May.

If you have not already donated it will not be too late to bring items at the May meeting- please pass those to Donna before the start of the meeting.

NB the May meeting will start at 2.15pm so please arrive between 1.45pm and 2.00pm- we will still finish at 4.00pm as usual.

This change has been made by suggestion of the members and will give us a little longer to enjoy a speaker, mini workshop or stitch session.

Bargain!!!

'Making Marks' with David Winning 9th April meeting

Well that was different!!! I personally enjoyed the serendipity of David's techniques and loved playing with charcoal & erasers.

I'm sure some members were out of their comfort zone, but sometimes that is a good thing.

David was a good speaker, funny and clever. He gave a bit of his background in teaching, how he approaches his work and showed us some examples.

He never has a preconceived idea of what he is going to make and therefore just sees what happens.

Something I might embrace!!!

Donna Eaton won the colour raffle 'Purple' and as you can see she was very pleased with it.

In fact I've just noticed she is actually dressed to match.
